How did Sakura Science Plan play a role in your study / research in Japan?

I first visited Japan thanks to the Sakura Science Plan (SSP). Through this program, I had a chance to participate in several interesting research activities in my field of study. I also observed how life in Japan is so convenient and orderly thanks to the advanced of technology. What I learned after the program had motivated me to come back to Japan to pursue my studies, so that when I return home, I could make use of my knowledge to improve the quality of life in my home country.

Please describe your comments freely related to your life in Japan.

After joining Sakura Science Plan (SSP), I returned to Japan to take a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering field at Nagasaki University. My supervisor and faculty staff had always been nice and supportive. Although the workload was hard sometime, my study greatly interested me and motivated me to keep going on. Besides studies, I also enjoy traveling around Kyushu with friends and studying the Japanese language.

Please describe your message to people who are going to participate in this program.

Studying in Japan is a great opportunity for everyone who is interested in science and technology. As for daily living, Japan is a country with high standard of etiquette, so I think it could be both an eye-opening experience and a challenge for foreigner students. To get the best out of your time in Japan, just accept and be comfortable with yourself while trying to explore and engage with local culture as much as possible. Studying abroad is about understanding yourself, so it is important to keep an open mind and finding your own balance.
