FY2025Yokohama City University "Learning Environmental and Urban Policies and Urban Waterfront Regeneration in Port Cities"

From March 1 to 8, 2026, one professor and seven students from the National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), Taiwan participated in the program, which combined lectures, site visits, and walking tours in Yokohama, Tokyo, and Kamakura. This program was designed in connection with a workshop held at NUK in September of the previous year. Through comparative perspectives between Yokohama and Kaohsiung, participants deepened their understanding of urban sustainability challenges in port cities.

From March 2 to March 8, 2026, a group of eight participants from three Indian institutions — Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR), Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), and Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Science and Technology University (JSSTU) — took part in the program. The visit was designed to provide exposure to cutting-edge research laboratories, foster academic interactions with leading scientists, and promote opportunities for collaborative research, student exchange programs, and institutional partnerships.

FY2025Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC) "Technical Training on the Development, Operation, and Practical Use of Earth Observation Small Satellites"

From February 2 to 11, 2026, we hosted ten researchers from Tanzania, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, and Ghana. They were expected to acquire fundamental technologies necessary for utilizing small satellites for Earth observation, including the development of Earth observation sensors, methods for integrating sensors into small satellites, operation of ground observation systems, and techniques for analyzing and utilizing Earth observation satellite data. The program also aimed to enhance participants’ motivation to promote small satellite development.

FY2025Yamaguchi University "Experiencing Cutting-Edge Research, Technology, and Education at Yamaguchi University"

On February 1,2026, all eight invitees from Bangladesh arrived in Yamaguchi. On Day 2, they measured exercise induced heart rate variability changes and conducted frequency-domain, time‑domain, and nonlinear analyses using their own data. They were also introduced to vibrotactile perception threshold (VPT) techniques and their clinical relevance in the early detection of neurological and metabolic disorders. Under faculty supervision, they performed VPT measurements of the lower extremities and interpreted the results.

FY2025Yokohama City University "Experiencing Advanced Nursing Practice and Research Collaboration in Japan's Tele-ICU System"

From January 13 to 19, 2026, students and a faculty member from Hasanuddin University in Indonesia had the opportunity to observe and learn about Japan’s advanced healthcare and nursing practices through lectures, hospital tours, and student exchanges. At Yokohama City University Hospital, they attended a lecture on the role and training of perianesthesia nurses and observed the autonomous collaboration between nurses and anesthesiologists. Their visit also included an introduction to the da Vinci surgical robot and the Tele-ICU system.

FY2025Kwansei Gakuin University "International Joint Research and Cultural Exchange on Two-Dimensional Materials"

From December 7 to 27, 2025, we welcomed Associate Prof. Dutta and two Ph.D. students from IISER Tirupati, India. During their stay, a series of research seminars and focused discussions were conducted on topics such as optical responses in two-dimensional materials, topological phases, and valley physics. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for participants to exchange ideas on theoretical models, numerical approaches, and physical interpretations and contributed to fostering new research networks for future collaboration.

From September 26 to October 2, 2025, we invited three students and one teacher from The Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University, as well as three students and one teacher from Delhi Public School, Bangalore East in India. Through visits to world-leading research institutions and various workshops, we provided an opportunity for high school students from the three countries and region to cultivate outstanding Asian talent who can play active roles on the global stage.

FY2025Sophia University "FSM Delegation Advances Women's Leadership and Blue Food Resilience through JST Sakura Science Exchange"

A delegation from the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), led by Mr. Jorg Anson (Pohnpei State Government), participated in our program. The program focused on strengthening institutional capacity, advancing blue food systems, and promoting women’s leadership in fisheries. For small island developing states such as FSM, fisheries are central to food security, livelihoods, and economic resilience. Increasing climate variability, disaster exposure, and import dependence make diversification and inclusive governance strategic priorities.

FY2025Kyushu University "Sakura Science Exchange Program (JST) Activity Report"

From 24 January to 7 February 2026, participants from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, joined the program, which provided valuable exposure to advanced research in antenna technology, semiconductor engineering, and cultural exchange activities. Through technical sessions, laboratory visits, and cultural experiences, participants gained both academic knowledge and international experience. The program strengthened international collaboration and contributed significantly to participants’ professional and personal development.

FY2025Meijo University "International Joint Research on Nanomaterials for Environmental and Energy Solutions in India"

We invited Dr. Naik and his students from Dhempe College of Arts and Science in India (Goa, India), to Meijo University from December 17 to 21, during which they conducted various experiments using the university’s equipment. By using many analysis techniques, we characterized the samples from Dhempe College. We also attempted to grow CNTs with the nanoparticles they synthesized in Goa by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. During the experiments, Japanese students supported those experiments dedicatedly.
