Hello! My name is Hani Suhastifa Rambe. I am from Medan, Indonesia. This is my last semester in Chemical Engineering at the University of Sumatera Utara. During February 3rd to February 13th 2020, I became part of the Sakura Science Exchange Program at the University of Kitakyushu. In Japan, I got many benefits like new friends, cultural experiences, viewing technologies and environmental measures. I have visited the National Institute of Environmental Study (NIES), Bio-Eco Engineering Research Laboratory (Miho Village in Ibaraki Prefecture) which was the research place of wastewater treatment called Johkasou. Over there, we learned about greenhouse gas emissions from the Johkasou and also discussed research plan to introduce Johkasou in Medan. We have also visited the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings. Over there, we got to know how technologies will develop in the coming years. It is one of the biggest companies that strive for our society’s sustainable development. The production process and products of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings were both environmentally friendly. I was very interested with Japanese people’s discipline and the cleanliness of the environment in Japan. So, I hope to apply these traits in Indonesia. Thank you.
