How did Sakura Science Plan play a role in your study / research in Japan?

Sakura Science Plan has provided a precious opportunity for the graduate student from other contries like me to understand the research and professional field of the institution, and find connection between our own research and build up friendships as well as collaborative research with material experts from other countries. I met Prof. Nishikawa in the Sakura Science Plan and I found our research field is very similar, which is advanced packaging material and interconnection technology. Apart from some experimental advice and discussion that I can exchange with Prof. Nishikawa, I also found some great experimental instruments and facilities in his laboratory that will benefit the process of my research. On the other hand, Prof. Nishikawa is also interested in the idea of my research, therefore we started our collaborative research after the Sakura Science Plan. And so far I and my collegue Sean Yang have been doing research in JWRI for three times in this year, each with around three weeks, and we have obtained some great results. Recently, we have already published our results in the IEEE ECTC (Electronic Components and Technology Conference) conference held in Orlando, USA, and we have aslo submitted a journal paper in this month as well.

Please describe your comments freely related to your life in Japan.

The professors and students in JWRI are all very kind and friendly to us. We have welcome parties for the whole Sakura Science members and in each laboratory. Besides, JWRI hold school tour for us and assigned each of us to a seat and internet access in our office. The dormitory of Osaka University is also very comfortable, too. In short, I really had a great time in Osaka during Sakura Science Plan, thanks for all the arrangement and hospitality from JWRI of the Osaka University!

The Sakura Science Plan is a very excellent opportunity for you to not only broaden your horizon on different research fields, fine instruments and professional instituion, but also meet and make connections with researchers and experts from other countries, and more, to travel in Japan and embrace Japenese culture. Please appreciate the whole journey and enjoy it as hard as you can!
