How did Sakura Science Plan play a role in your study / research in Japan?

SSP was a great opportunity to change my understanding and my mind in scientific field especially environmental engineering. Since I came in Japan by this program, my eyes just opened and I understood that I should continue my study in Japan under the supervision of amazing teachers with the high quality research area. Hence, I am studying in Graduate School of Engineering, University of Miyazaki with the support of JICA’s scholarship since Apr, 2016.

Please describe your comments freely related to your life in Japan.

My stay in Japan has changed my outlook on Japanese people and Japan as a whole. I have been living in Miyazaki which is located in Kyushu island of Japan for 1 year and several months. When I first came to Japan, I had no problem except Japanese language. Although communicated in English everywhere, I studied Japanese language well and so loved it, because of that I am the only foreign student in my lab and communicated with Japanese friends everyday. I am really glad that my professor and my tutor wholeheartedly supported, helped for my all issues when I cannot make myself understood in Japanese. Even now, my professor and my lab friends always care about me. I really, really motivated in every moment from their attitude and their doing, so I love them all.
Until today, I travelled to some big cities and rural areas of Japan except doing my research. Among them, I would say I really love Miyazaki city, because of that here is not so crowded people, very peaceful, living cost is quite low etc., I can spend enough from my scholarship budget for my travelling, shopping and what I want instead of paying for high cost apartments and other fees. Simply, Life in Japan is great.

Please describe your message to people who are going to participate in this program.

First of all, be confident and whatever you decide to be, try your best… ;) I am quite sure that you will be able to see, learn and explore about lot of great things by participating this program. As you know, quality of education in Japan is high, they has produced most non-Western winners of the Nobel Prize and one of the safest countries in the world. Also, assistance services and support for the all foreigners in Japan are amazing. I would say that if you decide to study in here, lot of great opportunities, supporting activities and wide range of scholarships of government, public, private organizations and institutes etc., are waiting for you.
