I am Khushi Pandey, a 17-year-old high school student, and I had the incredible opportunity to visit Japan from November 16 to November 22, 2024 under the Sakura Science Program (SSP). This experience allowed me to explore Japan’s rich history, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable innovations.

One of the most memorable moments was visiting Kokura Castle. Learning about its history and enjoying the panoramic view from the top was a unique experience with my friends . I also participated in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. It taught me the value of patience, mindfulness, and respect in every action, which I now apply to both my studies and daily life.

At Fukuoka Institute of Technology (FIT), I attended Mr. Akagi’s lecture, where I learned about how Japan uses integration of AI-driven tools and hands-on learning in their education . The innovative teaching methods and the passion of the students left a lasting impression on me.

Visiting the Kitakyushu Environment Museum further opened my eyes to Japan’s dedication to sustainability. I was amazed by the city’s transformation into an eco-friendly one through the use of advanced waste management technologies and with the support of its own citizens. Now , I aim to promote eco-friendly practices in my community, inspired by Japan’s successful waste management strategies.

This program taught me the importance of discipline, mindfulness, innovation, and global collaboration. I now appreciate how hands-on learning can enhance education, and I plan to incorporate this approach in my future studies.

SSP has been a transformative experience that has shaped my ambitions to contribute to innovation and sustainability in the future. I hope more students can experience the lessons this program offers and bring them back to their communities and make a peaceful and friendly global community with the help of education.
