I am Dr. Orawan Sriboonruang, an educator, researcher, and advocate for STEM education, currently serving as President of the Sakura Science Club Thailand since 2022. My journey in science education has taken me across Southeast Asia and beyond, where I have worked to bridge gaps in learning, foster innovation, and cultivate young minds to become future STEM leaders. With a background in science education, curriculum development, and international collaboration, I have dedicated my career to ensuring that young learners have equitable access to quality STEM opportunities, enabling them to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

My connection with the Sakura Science Exchange Program began in 2017, when I had the invaluable opportunity to participate in this remarkable initiative. The experience was truly transformative, opening doors to cutting-edge scientific research, cross-cultural collaboration, and lifelong professional networks. It was through this program that I witnessed first-hand, the power of international cooperation in STEM, inspiring me to further my commitment to fostering scientific talent in Southeast Asia.

It is with great pride that I reflect on how JST’s vision has shaped the aspirations of countless young scholars. The program has provided an extraordinary platform where students and researchers from Thailand and beyond engage in advanced scientific exploration, cultural exchange, and global networking.

Science has always been a universal language, and through this initiative, students are empowered to transcend borders, build meaningful partnerships, and contribute to the future of science and technology. The hands-on research experiences, mentorship from leading Japanese scientists, and exposure to world-class innovation have left an indelible mark on every participant, equipping them with not just technical expertise, but also the confidence, ambition, and collaborative spirit necessary for success in a globalized world.

As President of the Sakura Science Club Thailand, I have had the privilege of seeing the lasting impact of this program. Many of our alumni have pursued careers in STEM research, industry, and education, bringing with them the inspiration and knowledge they gained from their time in Japan. More importantly, they carry forward the values of scientific curiosity, international cooperation, and lifelong learning, which will shape the future of our region.

In a world increasingly shaped by science and technology, programs like Sakura Science Exchange serve as vital bridges between nations, connecting ideas, expertise, and aspirations toward a shared future of innovation and progress. JST’s unwavering commitment to fostering global STEM talent is a testament to the power of education, collaboration, and scientific diplomacy.

On behalf of Sakura Science Club Thailand, I extend my deepest gratitude to JST and our Japanese partners for their dedication to nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders. May this program continue to flourish, inspiring young minds and strengthening international partnerships for years to come.

Let’s stay connected and inspired!
