Participating in the Sakura Science Exchange Program was truly a life-changing experience. It marked my very first and longest flight since birth, an exciting beginning to a journey that transformed the way I perceive technology, culture, and global collaboration.
The program opened my eyes to the richness of multicultural experiences and the beauty of cultural exchange. Being immersed in Japan’s environment, particularly in Utsunomiya, I was deeply inspired by the country’s exceptional technological infrastructure and strong commitment to innovation. Observing how technology is seamlessly integrated into everyday life strengthened my desire to advance in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Beyond the academic and technological exposure, the program was thoughtfully structured with excursions that allowed us to experience Japan beyond the classroom. From visiting research historical landmarks to engaging with local communities, every activity deepened my appreciation for Japan’s blend of tradition and modernity. I was especially fascinated by the Japanese culture of respect, simple gestures such as bowing while greeting reflected profound humility, discipline, and courtesy. These experiences taught me that technology and culture can coexist harmoniously to create a progressive yet respectful society.
As an ICT specialist, this exchange experience reaffirmed my belief that continuous learning and global exposure are key to developing innovative technological solutions for real-world problems. The knowledge and inspiration I gained have motivated me to pursue further training and research opportunities in Japan when made available, where I can refine my technical expertise and contribute to creating solutions that address contemporary societal challenges.
Looking back, the program didn’t just teach me about science and technology, it reshaped my goals, my character, and my worldview. It made me realize that learning never stops and that cross-cultural understanding is the foundation of meaningful innovation. I am deeply grateful for this unforgettable journey, which continues to inspire my academic and professional path every single day.
