My name is Jaquelyn G. Ampo, and I am an alumna of the Sakura Science Program (SSP). Reflecting on my journey, SSP profoundly broadened my horizons both academically and culturally. The program offered hands-on experiences such as laboratory visits guided by esteemed professors, where I engaged in experiments and data analysis related to bioresource and environmental sciences. This practical exposure helped me connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

Culturally, I was immersed in Japan’s rich heritage through visits to Bunkyo Civic Center, shrine, and preservation sites like the University of Tokyo Tanashi Forest and the Fuji Iyashinomori Woodland Resource Center.

Looking ahead, I am motivated to pursue advanced studies in science and technology with a focus on fisheries science. I'm aiming to contribute to solving global challenges such as environmental sustainability and food reserve by leveraging the knowledge and skills gained from this program and from my program which is Bachelor of Science in Fisheries.

My experience also sparked my interest in Japanese language and culture, which I plan to study further to facilitate deeper academic and cultural exchanges in the future.

Unfortunately, the Sakura Science alumni community in my country remains inactive. I hope some of my fellow alumni would gather and organized a seminar where we shared our experiences and insights gained from the program, inspiring new applicants and strengthening our network. Since, these events serve as platforms for continuous learning and collaboration.
