The SSP program provided an exceptional opportunity to exchange and acquire knowledge regarding novel methodologies, technologies, and cultural perspectives. My current virology research (focusing on animal viruses such as LSDV and CIA, and human viruses such as HBV) benefited significantly from the broadened research perspective gained through the SSP program. Interactions with esteemed professors and PhD candidates in Japan have solidified my intention to pursue further research opportunities there, particularly inspired by their exemplary punctuality, consistency, and dedication. Japan presents a highly favorable research environment. I have not yet affiliated with any alumni program, primarily due to the program's relative novelty in my home country, where such alumni networks are currently unavailable.
Follow-up Message:
My experience in my Professor's virology lab has cultivated a strong desire for continuous knowledge acquisition. The Sakura Science Exchange Program provided an invaluable opportunity, granting me my first visit to a laboratory of significant interest. This experience exposed me to novel techniques, procedures, and operational protocols, fostering new perspectives and inspiring me through their exemplary hospitality and work ethic. Japan's reputation for diligence is well-deserved, and this program has solidified my aspirations to pursue further studies there. I am currently preparing for an internship program at Kagoshima University in October 2025. The proliferation of programs like Sakura would be highly beneficial.
