Myself, A. Abubakkar Siddik, am pursuing Ph.D. in microbiology at Alagappa University Karaikudi, India.

In 2015, I had the unique privilege of being part of the Sakura Science Program (SSP) , representing the southern part of India among 15 students selected from across the country. This experience not only broadened my understanding of Japanese culture but also deepened my knowledge of cutting-edge advancements in technology, research, and infrastructure.

During my trip, I had the honor of visiting world-renowned institutions such as JAXA’s aerospace research center, and Japan's atomic energy industry. These visits provided me with insights into Japan's leadership in space exploration and nuclear energy, fields that are vital to the future of global innovation.

One of the most exciting moments of my journey was my interaction with the esteemed Dr. Shirakawa, whose profound insights into the research world inspired me immensely. His wisdom and guidance were invaluable and left a lasting impact on my academic pursuits.

The highlight of my trip, however, was the thrilling experience of traveling on Japan’s bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo. The speed, efficiency, and smoothness of the journey were unparalleled, making it one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.

I am deeply grateful to the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) for making this experience possible through the Inspire Program. Their unwavering support and guidance enabled me to explore and learn in ways I had never imagined.

This journey, which took place from May 8th to May 15th, 2015, not only broadened my academic horizons but also motivated me to pursue a career in research and contribute to academic development. The exposure I received during this program inspired me to aim for excellence in my academic and professional life.

I am truly thankful for the opportunity to be part of such an enriching experience, and I look forward to applying what I have learned to my future endeavors.
