～PBL Workshop to Create a Sustainable Society～"

We held a PBL workshop with the multinational teams built by the invited students from Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand, USA, and students at NIT Toba College. The program is designed to implement under the theme of "water", which is a common problem worldwide. Through PBL the participants learned what the proposal and to build consensus with the socio-cultural backgrounds of countries around the world are.

FY2024Otemae University "Japan-Laos Nursing Leadership Development Program: Learning the Interconnection between Research and Clinical Practice"

The Otemae University Faculty of Global Nursing invited eight participants from Laos and implemented the course A program, which included both on-campus activities at the Otemae University Faculty of Global Nursing, and off-campus observational training at hospitals and social welfare facilities. The program aims to strengthen the knowledge of nursing education, learn teaching methods to ensure mastery of nursing skills, and mutually learn collaboration between clinical practice and research.

New Possibilities of Simulation Education in Emergency Nursing in Thailand and Japan"

Seven students and one faculty member from the Faculty of Nursing from the Royal Prince of Songkhla University (PSU) in Thailand were invited to the Faculty of Nursing, Fukuyama Heisei University (FHU) for eight days from Monday, February 10 to Monday, February 17, and participated in the Sakura Science Program Course C (Science and Technology Training Course).

FY2024Nagasaki University "Study at Nagasaki University!The history of pharmaceutical sciences and advanced drug discovery research originating in Nagasaki"

A total of eight invitees from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Chulalongkorn University and Chiang Mai University in the Kingdom of Thailand visited Nagasaki from January 26th to February 1st, 2025. The activities carried out in this program included a tour of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences facilities, lectures on advanced drug discovery, laboratory experiments and student exchanges, a tour of pharmaceutical companies etc., and a final debriefing meeting including student discussions.

FY2024Hiroshima University "Activity Report for the Sakura Science Program Course D (Annual Mutual Exchange Course)"

Supported by the 2024 Sakura Science Program Course D, we conducted an exchange project including mutual visits between Hiroshima University and BITS Pilani (Birla University of Technology and Science, Pilani) in India from December 2024 to March 2025. The objective of this project is to actively promote joint research based on the strengths of researchers at each university in the fields of element-based organic materials chemistry, and organic synthesis and photo functional evaluation of organic dyes.

A total of 11 participants (students and faculty members) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya), Meru University of Science and Technology (Kenya), and Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), were invited to participate in this program. The invited students were selected from graduate students who had achieved excellent results in the "Global Management" course offered under the joint project between Utsunomiya University and six African universities.

FY2024Gifu University "Course on artificial insemination technique in animal husbandry"

Seven students from Patuakhali Science and Technology University in Bangladesh, along with a faculty member, Prof. Quzi Sharmin Akter, were invited to Gifu University. Prof. Akter is an alumna of the MURASE Laboratory. The invitees received training practice, such as 'on embryo transfer in cattle' and 'procedures of cryopreservation of frozen semen for AI'. We were very much relieved by the comments made by them that the course was very useful because the provided training was one that is not available in their home country.

At the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology and the Faculty of Letters at the University of Tokyo, innovative research applying cutting-edge science and technology is being conducted in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Through this internship program, students had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge research in the humanities and social sciences through special lectures and facility visits, while also deepening their understanding of the historical relationship between Sri Lanka and Japan.

We hosted graduate students and faculty member from the University of Malaya, and implemented the program focused on Field-based Tropical Medicine Research for Young Scientists from Malaysia and Japan. It offered participants a comprehensive experience integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional field methods, such as practical training in creating field equipment using 3D printing technology, or conducted actual tick surveys in natural habitats, learning efficient sampling techniques that enhance collection results.

Students and faculty members from Tanzania (University of Dar es Salaam, and Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST)) and Ghana University were invited to Japan. Invited students were selected for UU-A “Global Management 2024” with outstanding results. They were joined with 5 students registered to the Global AL Seminar II, at the School of International Studies, Utsunomiya University to enable exchange of ideas between different countries and areas including Japan and Africa.
