From January 25 to 30, We hosted National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) students in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and organized a program in the field of electronic engineering, centered on company visits to leading Japanese firms in design, manufacturing, and product testing that constitute the semiconductor supply chain—Mitsubishi Electric Power Device Works, TOPPAN Technical Design Center, and Advantest Kyushu Systems—as well as lectures delivered by seven leading professors from Waseda IPS.

FY2025Nagasaki University "Global Human Resources Development through the History of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Advanced Drug Discovery Research Originating in Nagasaki"

From December 7 to 13, we hosted eight participants from Taipei Medical University’s School of Pharmacy. The University and Nagasaki University have signed memorandum of understanding and have a long-standing academic exchange, including short-term training programs for students. This year’s program featured a variety of activities, including tours of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences facilities, lectures on advanced drug discovery, hands-on laboratory experiences, visits to a pharmaceutical company, and a final presentation.

FY2025Kanazawa University "Experience cutting-edge nanoscience and nanotechnology in Japan and learn the principles and applications of high-speed atomic force microscopy"

A group of six graduate students and a faculty member from the National School of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Algeria, visited Japan under the Sakura Science Exchange Program. During a one-week training program at the Nano Life Science Institute (NanoLSI-WPI), Kanazawa University, the group was hosted by Dr. Djamel Eddine Chafai, Assistant Professor at NanoLSI. The participants were introduced to the world of High-Speed Atomic Force Microscopy (HS-AFM) and its applications in life sciences.

FY2025Kochi University "Internet of Plants (IoP) Experience Program for Next-Generation Greenhouse Horticulture in Kochi"

The Faculty of Agriculture and Marine Science at Kochi University promotes research and education in greenhouse horticulture and smart agriculture using advanced technologies, and is actively engaged in initiatives related to the Internet of Plants (IoP) as a next-generation data-driven agricultural system. In this program, students with strong interests in agriculture and ICT from India and Vietnam were invited to Kochi to experience practical examples of advanced greenhouse horticulture and smart agriculture implemented in the region.

FY2025Meijo University "International research collaboration on the application of carbon nanotubes in biotechnology"

Dr. Giri and his PhD students from Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, experienced CNT growth by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method with the support of Meijo University students. To facilitate mutual understanding, Meijo University students created an English experiment manual. Also, many analysis techniques, such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM), were used to characterize CNTs grown by CVD.

FY2025Tottori University "Invitation from Uzbekistan (Samarkand State University)"

From October 13 to 22, 2025, Tottori University hosted eight faculty members and students from Samarkand State University, Uzbekistan, and conducted a training program focused on enhancing knowledge and technologies related to forage crops and neglected and underutilized crops (NUCs), with the aim of strengthening food security and reducing poverty in drylands. This was the third time Tottori University has accepted participants from Samarkand State University through the Sakura Science Program.

FY2025Ehime University "Project for Building a Platform to Foster India–Japan Global IT Human Resources through Collaborative Analysis of Sports Health Data"

In November 2025, our university concluded an inter-university partnership agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH). The Faculty of Collaborative Regional Innovation has been working with IITH on international educational and research projects centered on sports data analysis. This year as well, with support from the Japan Science and Technology Agency’s Sakura Science Program, we welcomed IITH students to Ehime and carried out a two-week program of learning and exchange.

FY2025University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan "A Joint Research Project for the Advancement of Occupational Medicine"

We hosted five participants from Taiwan: two graduate students, two undergraduate students, and one accompanying faculty member. The research theme was “Joint Research with China Medical University for the International Implementation of Occupational Health Research and Health and Productivity Management.” We shared good practices of occupational health management for evaluating factors causing health hazards among workers, and explored the potential for international expansion of health and productivity management.

A group of students from 5 different institutes in India have been provided with an exceptional opportunity to engage directly with advanced research laboratories, interact with leading scientists, and explore ongoing international research initiatives across physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, and several interdisciplinary domains. The week-long program included intensive laboratory interactions, research demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and opportunities to discuss future collaborations with senior faculty at RIES.

FY2025Shimane University "Promoting Interdisciplinary Education through the Integration of Earth Science and Cultural Heritage"

We welcomed Dr. Ratheesh Kumar R.T. and six graduate students from the Department of Marine Geology and Geophysics at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), India. The program included scientific exchange, geological fieldwork, and cultural immersion. It centered on interdisciplinary learning and hands-on geological research, with participants exploring Matsue City, specifically Katsurajima and Daikonjima, to provide an ideal natural laboratory for observing and analyzing volcanic activity and coastal geomorphology.
