Konichiwa!

My name is Lhiyanne Ysabelle S. Juaiting, and I am from Immaculate Conception School of Baliuag. I had the honor of participating in the Sakura Science Exchange Program (SSEP) last December 2024.

If I could turn back time, my Sakura Science Program (SSP) experience is something I would want to experience over and over.

I have always been passionate about visiting other countries, especially Japan, to explore its advancements in science and technology. This program gave me a wonderful opportunity to learn, explore, and gain new perspectives. It was an eye-opening experience that gave me hope as a student: a bright future is ahead as long as I continue to work hard and pursue my dreams.

During the program, I had the privilege of visiting Hiroshima University, a school I aspire to attend for college. I was inspired by its quality of education, research facilities, and support services for students. I also visited Hiroshima Chuo Eco Park, where I learned about Japan’s advanced waste management and sustainability practices. I was impressed by how they integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into daily life.

I also met many people from different countries in Hiroshima. Their kindness and hospitality made me feel welcome and inspired, and it made me imagine what it would be like to study and live there.

One of the most unforgettable moments for me was performing in front of Japanese students, where I shared Filipino culture through singing. This experience reignited my love for music and showed me how culture can bring people together.

SSEP has greatly influenced both my academic and career goals. As a student leader in our community, I often share my experience, hoping to inspire other students to pursue similar opportunities.

Finally, SSP has been a life-changing and inspiring experience, and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. I hope to contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the Philippines while fostering strong connections between Japan and our country, as an active member of the Sakura Science Club (SSC).
