学生企画による東京都立大学—ソウル市立大学の生命科学分野、先端技術交流

東京都立大学理学研究科生命科学専攻では、さくらサイエンスプログラムに採択され、ソウル市立大学生命科学専攻から大学院生10名、教員1名を11月17日から22日まで招へいしました。久しぶりの対面交流のため、11月11日に招へいに先立って、オンラインでの交流・打ち合わせを行いました。研究室での研究交流、研究所とのオンライン交流などの企画やその実施は学生オーガナイザーが中心に採用前から数えてソウル市立大学学生の招へいは15年目で、さらに毎年ソウル市立大学へ学生が招待されるという交流を続けています。本交流はすべて英語で行われるため、本学の多くの留学生もオーガナイザーとして参加しており、国際的な交流になっていると思われます。

＜ショウジョウバエの行動実験＞
我々が普段研究テーマとして扱っている、記憶やストレスについて、ショウジョウバエを使ってどのように計測しているのかテスト風景を見学してもらった。ハエの求愛行動を利用したこのテストは、目に見えて変化が著しいものだったので興味を持って見学してくれた。また、事前に撮影した映像でショウジョウバエの行動を見せることで、より細かな動きを伝えることができた。
＜土壌生物の観察＞
研究室では節足動物および土壌生物が主に研究されているため、学内森林を利用して採集することができるピットフォールトラップを計画した。学内森林を隅々まで歩き紹介しながら明るい竹林環境や暗い森林環境に、実際にUOS学生の手でトラップを仕掛けてもらった。森林内で発見したものに関してUOS側から質問があった。最終的に多くの節足動物、土壌生物を得ることができた。これら生物を特定し多様性も議論できた。
■バイオカンファレンスの企画と実施について（学生の報告書からの抜粋）
The purpose of this activity is to hold a collaboration research meeting between Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) and University of Seoul (UOS) students in the “TMU−UOS Bioconference” program. This program is a good opportunity for the UOS and TMU students to introduce, explain, discuss, and get suggestions for their research to each other.
The conference went very smoothly. There were many participants attending this program, the students and faculty members of TMU. All presenters did their best to introduce and explain their research. They also could get useful comments and suggestions for their research. As the organizer, I can get new information and knowledge about what kinds of research have been conducted at the University of Seoul. I also learn and get experience in organizing and managing the conference for the first time with Japanese student; Marika Yamaguchi. One of the difficulties during the preparation of this conference was recruiting some students in participating for this program. In my opinion, it was because some students had participated in the Bioconference which was held 10 days before. Furthermore, I hope the next conference would be held earlier, for example in the afternoon so there are more participants and all participants in the poster presentation could get the certificate.
