The lecture featured a variety of demonstrations, such as Elliptical Geometry, which is used in the medical field for applications such as MRI scans and laser treatments, an experiment in which each of the students cut two Moebius strips from distributed paper, introduction of various methods for proving the Pythagorean Theorem, and a number guessing trick using paper with numbers from 1-15 written on it. Each success received a big round of applause.

When Professor AKIYAMA asked, “Are any of you thinking of becoming mathematicians in the future?” some of the students raised their hands. Throughout the day, students learned things about mathematics like how fun it can be, how it is applied to the real world, and the further possibilities it holds through first-hand experience.
