SAKURA SCIENCE University Program

Japan University and Corporation Career Session 2024

On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 11, 55 university students from India came to Osaka to attend the "Japan University and Corporation Career Session 2024" held at the Shin-Osaka Brick Building. The purpose of this briefing was to support Indian university students to build careers at Japanese universities and companies. 16 universities and 3 companies from all over Japan were represented there.

After receiving the explanation "Study in Japan" by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), the students had individual interviews with representatives, freely changing booths set up by each university and company. In addition, two presentation stages were set up in the venue where students listened enthusiastically to the characteristics and attractions of each university and company.

This session was the second time since last year. It has proved to be very popular place to exchange valuable information for both students and universities and companies. The following are some of the main impressions we heard.

[Students from India]

  • This was helpful in considering my future course. I want to study in a master`s degree course at a university in Japan.
  • There was a lot of information available, and it was very helpful.
  • Since I can talk to a representative personally, I was able to get a better understanding of Japanese universities and companies.
  • I was hoping that more Japanese companies would be participating.
  • I thought it would be good if institutions such as research institutes and the like also participated (that is because the possibility of being able to conduct research in Japan as a researcher could be available)

[Universities]

  • It was a very valuable experience to be able to speak directly with Indian students and learn more about what they are thinking
  • The students who came to Japan on this program have narrowed down their fields, so discussions move along quickly.
  • I was surprised by the high level the Indian students demonstrated.
  • Compared to other Asian students, Indian students go straight to the main point, so it felt like we were doing business.
  • I want to put up posters on the walls to make a greater appeal for our university.
