Ukrainian High School Students Paid a courtesy Visit to the Ukrainian Embassy in Japan

On the morning of Thursday, December 5, eight Ukrainian high school students visiting Japan as Group 6 in the SAKURA SCIENCE High School Program (SSHP), the supervisor, and the Director General FUJIKI Kanji of JST Sakura Science Program Headquarters paid a courtesy call on the Ukrainian Embassy in Tokyo (Minato ward, Tokyo).

The high school students reported vividly on their SSHP's experience, including interaction with researchers at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), to the Ukrainian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sergiy Korsunsky in Japan.

Ambassador Korsunsky told the high school students about the good aspects of Japanese culture that he learned to appreciate through his living in Japan for an extended period of time, such as "separating garbage in consideration of ecology and the environment." The ambassador's words that "such a small accumulation of each person's heart will lead to the first step to greatly change the world" seemed particularly to resonate in the hearts of the high school students.

Director General FUJIKI of JST Sakura Science Program Headquarters conveyed the expectation that the excellent Ukrainian high school students who came to Japan this time would choose to come and study at Japanese universities and research institutions as future options.
