Open Application Program
Four Kinds of Open Application Programs
- Course A: Science and Technology Experience Course
- Foreign youth participate in science and technology exchange programs arranged by host organizations in Japan. The period of stay is limited to 7 days. The number of people who can be invited is limited to eight including supervisors.
- Course B: Collaborative Research Activities Course
- Foreign youth participate in short term joint research programs arranged by host organizations in Japan. The period of stay is limited to 3 weeks. The number of people who can be invited is basically limited to eight including supervisors.
- Course C: Science and Technology Training Course
- Foreign youth participate in converged training to acquire specific technique and skills related to science and technology arranged by the host organizations. The period of stay is limited to 10 days. The number of people who can be invited is limited to eight per sending organization, and 12 from multiple sending organizations including supervisors.
- Course D: Annual Mutual Exchange Course (Open Application from June 17, 2024)

Target: India and African countriesThis course is to deepen exchanges of Japanese and foreign youth by inviting, dispatching, and conducting year-round online exchanges. The exchange period will be within one year. The dispatch and invitation with a maximum of 90 days/person are assumed to be a hybrid exchange combined with online exchanges.
(The exchange period of FY2024 will be from the day the contract is concluded until the end of the fiscal year.)

JST Direct Invitation Program
There are two kinds of programs which JST plans and implements as a host organization.
SAKURA SCIENCE High School Program
Excellent high school students from overseas countries and regions are invited to experience science and technology in Japan
SAKURA SCIENCE Supporters Program
Foreign experts in the field of science and technology or education, who are engaged in implementation of Sakura Science Exchange Program are invited to Japan to experience Japanese cutting-edge science and technology, as well as science and technology administration.
