Thai University Students Paid a Courtesy Visit to Minister Hagiuda (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)
Commemorating 30,000 participants invited by Sakura Science
On October 23, 2019, ten students and one supervisor from Thai King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok visited the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for a courtesy visit with Minister Koichi Hagiuda. This visit was made possible because the number of international students invited through the Sakura Science Exchange Program, which started in 2014, has reached 30,000 when including this group of Thai students.
King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok is Thailand's leading national university. Their program was planned to exchange research on advanced manufacturing at the University of Electro-Communications. The group of Thai students happened to bring the total number of students in the Sakura Science Exchange Program, a number worthy of celebration.
Although the students seemed a little nervous when entering the Minister’s Office, Minister Hagiuda greeted them warmly while shaking everyone’s hands. A student representative reported to the Minister on the program outline and their impression of Japan. “In the future, I hope that you will come back to Japan to study,” encouraged Minister Hagiuda. “I hope you will become a bridge between Japan and Thailand, and I look forward to you accomplishing great things in the future.”
