(ICT: Institute of Cambodia of Technology)から2名の若手研究者を招へいいたしました。

SITH RATINO

The Sakura Exchange Program has provided me to have short-term training in Japan, which was hosted by Research and Development Center of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. During the 2 weeks of training, I have gained new experiences in the field of hydrologic modeling. I have been instructed various hydrologic models being applied for current research projects in Nippon Koei. The models include QSWAT, which is embedded in QGIS. In addition, I have had chance to explore a model, namely SHER embedded in NK-GIAS, developed by Nippon Koei. With the very good instruction, I have successfully developed both models for a river catchment in Cambodia to simulate river discharge. Aside from the field of hydrologic model, I have been impressed with the other technical areas together with huge supported facilities including soil, water and chemical laboratories and others. I am looking forward to having a research collaboration between my institution and R&D of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. Last but not least, I would like to give my profound thanks and appreciation to all NK staffs, particularly Mr. Sreng, Ms. Yoshinari, Mr. Horie, Mr. Nakamura, and others for their great and incredible hospitality during my stay in Nippon Koei.

MUOY YI HENG

I had a mission on the short-term Exchange program for two weeks at Nippon Koei R&D center (NK). Having the chance to join this program, I would like to express my profound thanks to the organizers, JST-Sakura program and all staffs of NK, for their warm hospitalities and great help during my stay in Japan. During training period, I had the chance to conduct some experiments on the physical properties of soil, especially Hydrometer and Crumb tests for determining the dispersive percentage and grad of soil and followed by the density test with moisture content. At the same time, I am also impressed and highly interested in the field of Geophysics for exploration of the groundwater and ground motion control by using electrical and micro-tremor surveys, respectively. Although, two weeks was really short time, I have learned many things about not only science, but also culture including kindness, and working ethics of NK staffs. This program is great in the way to strengthen the network between Institute of Technology of Cambodia and Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. I highly appreciated organizers, Japan Science and Technology agency (JST) and Nippon Koei.
